Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and Zeroed Ledger (“Zeroed Ledger”, “we”, “us”) for using the app at zeroedledger.com. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What Zeroed Ledger is
Zeroed Ledger is a tool for planning and recording a household budget. It does the math you tell it to do on the numbers you enter. It is not a bank, a financial institution, or a financial, tax, or legal adviser, and nothing in the app is financial advice. Projections, payoff plans, and forecasts are estimates based on your inputs and simple assumptions; real results will differ.
Your account
You need a working email address to sign in. You're responsible for keeping access to that email secure, since anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You must be at least 13 years old, and at least 18 to agree to these terms on your own; otherwise a parent or guardian must agree for you. One person, one account.
Shared budgets
When you invite someone to a budget, everyone in it can see and change everything in it. Owners can invite, remove, and change the roles of members, and can delete the budget for everyone. Members can leave at any time and may take a private copy with them. Decide who you trust before you invite them; we can't referee disputes between members or recover a budget an owner deleted.
Your data
Everything you enter stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, show it to you and the members you've chosen, back it up, and send the emails the service requires. You can export it at any time and delete your account at any time. How we handle it is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
Acceptable use
Use the service for personal or household budgeting. Don't try to access other people's budgets, probe or overload the service, reverse-engineer it, resell it, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
Plans and payment
Zeroed Ledger is currently free while in early access. If we introduce paid plans, we'll publish the prices and what they include before charging anyone, give existing users notice, and process payments through Stripe. Subscriptions would renew automatically until cancelled; you could cancel at any time and keep access through the end of the period you paid for. Taxes may apply depending on where you live.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep the service up, but it is provided “as is” and we don't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features. If we ever decide to shut the service down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice and keep export working until then.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Zeroed Ledger isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any financial decision you make using the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
Ending the agreement
You can end it by deleting your account. We can end it by closing your account if you break these terms, with notice where practical. Sections that by their nature should survive (your data rights, limits on liability, governing law) do.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois, and you agree to that venue. If you'd rather talk first, so would we — write to us before filing anything.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
